KWHA passes FOI, Water User Association Bills into law

The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill and the Kwara State Water User Association Bill, 2025 into law during its Tuesday plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Salihu.
Following the presentation of committee reports, the 10th Assembly directed the Clerk of the House to prepare clean copies of the passed bills for the Governor’s assent.
The report on the FOI Bill was presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Youths, Sports and Information, Hon. Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu (Owode/Onire), and seconded by Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasak (Share/Oke-Ode).
Similarly, the report on the Water User Association Bill was presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources, Hon. Bello Yinusa Oniboki (Afon), and seconded by Hon. Yusuf Maryam (Ilorin South).
A public hearing was held on Monday, where various stakeholders shared their input on the two bills before their final passage on Tuesday.
