KWSIEC releases timetable for council polls, says Sept 21 date stands

Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has released the timetable of activities for the conduct of elections for the offices of chairmen and councillors for the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
According to a statement signed by the chairman of the umpire Muhammed Okanla in Ilorin, meetings/interface with all the Registered Political Parties leadership will be held on Friday, June 21, while Political Parties’ primaries will be held between Monday, June 24th and 30th.
The statement added that Political parties should obtain and return nomination forms KWSIEC 01 and KWSIEC 02 for Chairmanship and Councilorship Elections between Monday, July 1st and 5th July.
It also stated that verification of Candidates’ credentials will be held on Monday 8th and Friday 19th July.
“Display of names of Candidates Nominated by Political Parties to be posted on KWSIEC notice board: Monday, July 22nd — Friday 26th, 2024.
“Training of Ad-hoc Staff in all the three senatorial Districts: Saturday, July 27th — Wednesday, July 31st, 2024.
“Last Day for withdrawal of Candidate (if need be): Monday, August 5th, 2024.
“The last Day for Publication of the List of Nominated Candidates: Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.
“Political Parties’ Campaign starts on Monday, August 19th and ends on midnight of Thursday 19th September 2024” it read.
The statement noted that election Day for Chairmanship and Councilorship positions remains September 21, while the collection of Certificate of Returns will be Monday, September 23rd, 2024.
