Lagos APC mocks Makinde over claim of defeating Tinubu in 12 states

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s campaign organisation over its claim that it would defeat President Bola Tinubu in 12 states in the 2027 presidential election.
The party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement issued on Sunday, described the claim as political bravado unsupported by evidence of nationwide electoral strength.
Oladejo questioned Makinde’s national political structure, support beyond Oyo State and capacity to build a formidable coalition, citing alleged political divisions within the governor’s camp.
He said Tinubu would enter the 2027 race with decades of political experience, an established national network and a record of coalition-building.
The APC spokesman also defended the president’s Renewed Hope agenda, challenging the opposition to present a convincing policy alternative rather than merely announce its electoral targets.
“Makinde’s declaration, therefore, sounds less like a carefully reasoned electoral forecast and more like an attempt to manufacture momentum through headline-grabbing bravado,” Oladejo said.
He reaffirmed the APC’s confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, insisting that victory would depend on effective organisation, a credible national agenda and voters’ support.
