Lagos Assembly: Give peace a chance, you’re fighting lost battle- former Lawmaker tells Obasa

A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu, has appealed to the former Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to give peace a chance, stating that he was fighting a lost battle.

Idimogu represented Oshodi-Isolo 1 from 2015 to 2023.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Wednesday, Idimogu called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the ongoing speakership crisis.

He appealed to the President to intervene in the crisis before it goes out of control.

Idimogu expressed dismay over the President’s silence and urged him to call Obasa to order.

Idimogu warned that the prolonged crisis could hinder the state’s development if party leaders, led by the President, remained silent.

The ex-lawmaker urged Obasa to accept his removal, cooperate with colleagues, and support the current Speaker for progress.

“At this stage, I believe the party leadership, especially the Governing Advisory Council led by President Bola Tinubu, should intervene before the crisis escalates.

“They should appeal to Obasa’s conscience, reminding him that he has had his time and should now allow peace to reign.

“After serving 22 years, including 10 as Speaker, he should give himself peace of mind and reconcile with his colleagues.

“He was not suspended; he remains a House member but cannot return as Speaker since he was lawfully removed,” Idimogu said.

He commended lawmakers for supporting the current Speaker and urged Meranda to stay strong, assuring her the crisis would soon be resolved.
