The Chairman of Conference 57, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has urged Lagos residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 general election.
Olowa, who heads the forum of chairmen of the state’s 57 local government areas and local council development areas, made the appeal during a strategic PVC sensitization and community engagement programme held in the Epe Division of Lagos State.
Representing the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Olowa said voter registration and PVC collection were essential to strengthening democratic participation. He called on eligible residents to secure their voter cards and exercise their civic responsibility at the polls.
Olowa also pledged that Conference 57 would collaborate with the Lagos State Baales Forum to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state. He said the partnership would encourage greater voter participation ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that the campaign would also seek support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in the party’s leadership at both the state and federal levels. According to him, the endorsement is based on what he described as the achievements recorded by the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the Lagos State Government.
As part of the event, Olowa, on behalf of the council chairmen, donated a luxury bus to the Epe Divisional Baales. He said the vehicle would improve the administrative and logistical capacity of traditional rulers in the division.
Speakers at the sensitisation programme urged residents not only to collect and safeguard their PVCs but also to actively participate in community engagement initiatives aimed at addressing local development priorities.
Convener of the Lagos State Baales Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, commended the Presidency for its continued support for traditional institutions, saying empowering traditional rulers with the resources needed to carry out their responsibilities would promote peace, unity and community development. He added that the donation underscored the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with traditional institutions to enhance grassroots governance and improve service delivery.
