Lagos distributes nutritional packs to pregnant women in Ojo

The Lagos State Government has distributed nutritional food packs to pregnant women in Ojo Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve maternal and child health.

The support was provided during the third edition of the Mother, Infant and Child Development Programme (MICHD) this year, held at the Ojo Local Government Secretariat, Olojo Drive, Ojo.

The programme was organised by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement in collaboration with Lagos State Health District V to engage vulnerable pregnant women and promote access to healthcare services.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the Citizens Engagement Department in the office, Dr Babatunde Omotayo, who represented the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, and the Permanent Secretary, Engr Sholabomi Shasore, said the initiative was designed to strengthen government engagement with residents and improve the welfare of mothers and children.

Omotayo urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of available government programmes, stressing that the government remained committed to serving the people.

“The government is here to serve the people,” he said, encouraging residents to make use of available initiatives and support services.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District V, Dr Oladapo Asiyanbi, represented by the Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, Dr Amina Ahmad Bello, emphasised the importance of prioritising maternal and child health.

She said the well-being of mothers and children was essential to building a healthy and prosperous society.
