Fagbolagun reigns supreme at Lagos NUJ Games, wins women’s table tennis gold

Biola Fagbolagun of Lagos Traffic Radio has won the women’s table tennis gold medal at the 2026 Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Games.
Fagbolagun, who covers the Lagos State House of Assembly, defeated Menanya Anulika of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) 13-11, 13-11 in straight sets to clinch the title.
The competition was held on Wednesday, October 7, at the Lagos NUJ Secretariat, Iyala, Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking after her victory, Fagbolagun attributed her success to determination, hard work and the support of her colleagues and supporters. She thanked the organisers, NUJ executives and participants for making the competition a success.
She commended the Lagos NUJ for sustaining the annual Media Games, describing the event as an opportunity for journalists to stay fit, relax and strengthen bonds.
“As journalists, we spend a lot of time working and reporting events. We also need to take care of our bodies, and sporting activities give us the opportunity to exercise and stay active,” she said.
Fagbolagun urged journalists to embrace sports and called on corporate organisations to support the games financially and materially to enhance future editions.
She expressed gratitude to her colleagues and supporters for their encouragement and pledged to improve her skills ahead of subsequent competitions.
The annual Lagos NUJ Media Games promotes physical fitness, camaraderie and healthy competition among journalists and media practitioners in the state.
