Lagos govt celebrates Black Market’s Guinness World Records feat
The Lagos State Government has congratulated stakeholders in the creative industry following the successful premiere of “Black Market”, which attracted 51,258 attendees at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
The premiere, held on Saturday, resulted in the breaking of the Guinness World Records title for the largest attendance at a film premiere or screening.
The state government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, expressed appreciation to stakeholders, partners and members of the public for their support towards the event.
It particularly commended the producers of “Black Market”, Switch Visuals Limited and Rizzle Studios, led by Nora Awolowo, as well as the cast and crew, corporate partners, media organisations and the 51,258 attendees who participated in the event.
The government also appreciated Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Kadri Hamzat for their support for the creative industry, which it described as an important pillar of Lagos’ economic growth and soft power.
According to the government, the record demonstrates what can be achieved when government and creatives collaborate with a shared vision to push boundaries and create history on the global stage.
It said the achievement was a landmark for Nollywood, Lagos State and Nigeria, adding that it would continue to support stakeholders in the tourism, hospitality, entertainment and creative sectors.
