Lagos hails Odu’a Investment as Premier Hotel reopens in Ibadan

The Lagos State Government has commended Odu’a Investment Company Limited for the reopening of the iconic Premier Hotel in Ibadan, describing the redevelopment as a strategic investment, heritage preservation and regional economic cooperation.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation in a goodwill message delivered at the reopening ceremony on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin. He described the restoration of the historic hotel as a commitment to preserving the region’s heritage while embracing the opportunities of a modern economy.
Sanwo-Olu said Premier Hotel had remained a symbol of hospitality and excellence in the South-West for decades, welcoming leaders, business travellers and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond. He commended the board and management of Odu’a Investment Company Limited for restoring one of the region’s most recognisable assets.
According to the governor, the redevelopment sends a strong signal of confidence in the future of tourism, hospitality and investment across the South-West, adding that a vibrant hospitality industry drives economic growth through job creation, increased tourism, support for local businesses and enhanced commercial activities.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to regional collaboration, noting that the prosperity of Lagos is closely linked to the growth of other South-West states.
“The success of one state contributes to the competitiveness of the entire region. Together, we can build a more prosperous, globally competitive and economically vibrant South-West,” he said.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume, said the transformation of the 154-bed Premier Hotel on Mokola Hill preserves the region’s heritage while meeting global hospitality and tourism standards. He also assured Nigerians that efforts were ongoing to rescue the kidnapped students and teachers in Oyo State through a technology-driven operation coordinated by the Inspector-General of Police.
Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, disclosed that the Premier Hotel model would be replicated in other South-West states. The reopening ceremony was attended by current and former chairmen, board members and shareholders of the company, as well as dignitaries from across the region.
