Lagos Politics: Tinubu, GAC reportedly caution Obasa over disrespect for Sanwo-Olu
President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) have reportedly chided the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa over his alleged strained relationship with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and disrespect to the office of the governor.
It would be recalled that the House of Assembly under the leadership of Obasa in 2023 dropped some Commissioner-nominees who were submitted before it for approval by Governor Sanwo-Olu .This act, many believed triggered the alleged strained relationship between Obasa and the governor.
The knotty relationship became obvious during the 2025 budget presentation by Sanwo-Olu, when Obasa seized the occasion to come out and openly hit the governor.
Sources within the Lagos APC disclosed that the GAC Chairman and Elderstatesman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, at the weekend in Lagos, gave situation report on Lagos APC politics to President Tinubu where he detailed several acts and actions of the Speaker believed to be denigrating the office of the governor.
Olusi was said to have condemned the behavior of the Speaker towards Sanwo-Olu and the office of the governor, saying that no Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly had ever disrespect a governor since 1999.
It was gathered that President Tinubu was not happy with how the Speaker was said to have been disrespecting Governor Sanwo-Olu.
