The member representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency II and Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, Hon. (Prince) Kayode Moshood Akiolu, has congratulated His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Lagos, the Akinsiku of Lagos, the entire body of Traditional White Cap Chiefs, and all residents of Lagos on the announcement of the Eyo Adamu Orisa Play.
The historic cultural display is scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2025, and will be staged in honour of three distinguished Lagosians: the late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, and the late Sir Michael Otedola.
Hon. Akiolu described the celebration as a fitting tribute to their enduring legacies and profound contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State.
He noted that each of the honourees served Lagos with outstanding dedication, leaving behind footprints that helped shape the state’s progress. The staging of the Eyo festival, he said, reflects the deep appreciation of their lifelong service.
As a Prince of Lagos, Hon. Akiolu offered prayers for the peaceful repose of their souls, asking God to grant them eternal rest and reward their virtuous deeds.
He also commended the Lagos Traditional Council for deploying the state’s rich cultural heritage to celebrate exemplary leadership. The lawmaker urged Lagosians and visitors to participate peacefully in the festivities and embrace the cultural significance of the event.
Hon. Akiolu wished the organisers a successful and memorable outing, expressing confidence that the festival would further strengthen the unity and historical identity of Lagos State.
