Lagos To Establish Law Enforcement Training Institute

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday adopted a report submitted by the Committee on Judiciary, Public Petitions and LASIE on the establishmentof the Lagos State Law EnforcementTrainin Institute.
According to the Committee Chairman, Hon. Victor Akande (Ojo 1), the institute is saddled with the responsibility of training law enforcement agents recruited by the state government so as to enhance their productivity.
Akande said the training Institute would train law enforcement officers in line with the rules and guidelines of their agencies, adding that the specialised training would enhance their human relations with the general public.
He said the Institute was necessary because there were numerous state law enforcement agencies that rely heavily on trainings from federal training institutes, adding that the institute would train officers in tandem with the objectives of their various agencies.
In the report, the institute would engage the services of law enforcement experts as trainers while the Chairman of the agency is expected to be in the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) or equivalent in any of the State’s law enforcement agencies.
Also, in the report, anyone who wants to sue the Institute before the law court will need to give the Institute 30days notice in writing.
