LAMATA hands over new EKEDC office complex in Lagos

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) today handed over a newly completed office complex to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), marking a major milestone in the state’s ongoing infrastructure development.
The new building replaces the former EKEDC facility, which was removed to make way for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line project.
Speaking at the event, LAMATA’s Managing Director, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, represented by the Technical Adviser, Public Transport Rail, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga, said the handover fulfills the state government’s promise to support stakeholders affected by the ambitious Blue Line initiative.

“This modern office complex is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that stakeholders are adequately compensated and supported,” Okusaga stated.
The new facility features 43 functional offices, six spacious halls, 18 well-fitted toilets, and a generator house, all designed to meet EKEDC’s operational needs and enhance electricity service delivery across Lagos State.
LAMATA expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for their visionary leadership that continues to drive infrastructural renewal in the state. Appreciation was also extended to the Lagos State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, for their legislative support and oversight, which were crucial for the project’s smooth execution.
EKEDC management, led by Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, thanked the state government for fulfilling its commitment, noting that the handover signifies not just the completion of a building but a partnership aimed at building a more functional Lagos.
Engr. John Laoye, Managing Director of Ebun Links Engineering Limited, the firm responsible for constructing the complex, also lauded the collaboration between LAMATA, EKEDC, and the state government, which facilitated the prompt delivery of the project.
