Air chief directs precision strikes, intelligence-led missions against insurgents

By Kunle Sanni –
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders across all operational theatres to intensify precision strikes and intelligence-led missions against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal networks threatening Nigeria’s security.
The directive followed a high-level strategic meeting held at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters in Abuja, where the Air Chief unveiled new measures aimed at improving coordination, agility, and effectiveness in ongoing military operations.
Addressing the commanders, Air Marshal Aneke urged them to adopt smarter, faster, and more coordinated approaches in executing air missions.
“We must fly smarter and strike harder. Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he said, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-driven warfare in addressing evolving security challenges.

He further highlighted the need for greater synergy among the armed forces and other security agencies, noting that joint planning and operations are key to achieving lasting peace and stability across the country.
Reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare and capacity development, the CAS assured that the NAF, under his leadership, will continue to invest in training, innovation, and modern equipment to enhance mission readiness.
“The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” Air Marshal Aneke declared.
The strategic session marks one of the first major directives under Air Marshal Aneke’s leadership.
