LASG, policy groups meet over women’s economic empowerment initiative

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) have met with the representative of the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) and the Albridge Stone Group (ASG) to solidify their strategic alignment in preparation for the upcoming launch of the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy Roadmap, tentatively scheduled for May 2025.
The meeting which was held on Thursday at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa after the courtesy visit by a team from Gender and Inclusion Lead at PIC, provided an opportunity for the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of WAPA, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, to engage with key stakeholders.
Discussions were centered on crucial milestones, including a data validation exercise slated for April 29, 2025.
Onigbanjo expressed her gratitude for the ongoing partnership and technical support from ASG and PIC, emphasising the value of such collaborative efforts.
She affirmed that WAPA, following approval from the Lagos State Executive Council, is committed to domesticating the Women’s Economic Empowerment policy, a critical step in translating the roadmap into tangible outcomes for women across the state.
In his remarks, Adekemi Omole, who led the visiting team, reiterated the group’s dedication to supporting WAPA through strategic guidance and inclusive policy implementation.
She underscored the shared objective of achieving sustainable economic empowerment for women and ensuring inclusivity, leaving no one behind.
The partnership underscores a united commitment to fostering inclusive development and unlocking the full potential of women within Lagos State’s economic landscape.
