The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) and its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, have received honours at the 2026 Nigeria GOVTECH Public Service Awards organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms under the Presidency.

LASHMA won the Best State MDA in Digital Health Service Delivery Award, while Zamba received the GOVTECH Trailblazer’s Award for leadership in technology adoption and public sector innovation. The awards were presented at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Director-General of the Bureau, Dasuki Arabi, said LASHMA was selected following a nationwide nomination process and an independent review of its digital health initiatives.

Arabi said the agency’s innovations included digital enrolment and payment systems for the ILERA EKO social health insurance scheme, a unified database supporting nearly two million registrations, and more than 200,000 self-registrations.

He added that the agency had digitally connected more than 800 healthcare providers and processed about 80,000 pre-authorisations and claims monthly.

Other initiatives highlighted included telemedicine services, virtual health booths, customer relationship management tools, digital vulnerability assessments and ILERA EKO Spotlight Online Radio.

Receiving the awards, Zamba thanked the Bureau for the recognition and pledged to intensify efforts to expand ILERA EKO enrolment, improve access to affordable healthcare and reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses for Lagos residents.

LASHMA said the recognition brought the agency’s tally of awards in 2026 to four.
