LASU gets new DVC academics

The Senate of the Lagos State University has elected Professor Oseni Taiwo AFISI as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coodinator,
CIPR, LASU, Thomas-Onashile and Oluwayemisi A, posted on the School’s Facebook wall.
The statement said Prof. Oseni Afisi defeated the Director, LASU Museum and Chairman, LASU IIVC, Prof. Maruf Suraqat ANIMASHAUN by 198 to 2 votes to emerge winner.
Prof. Afisi, a professor of philosophy, will succeed Prof. Olufunsho Abayomi Omobitan, whose tenure will end on Wednesday, 29th January 2025.
He will assume office on Thursday, 30th January 2025.
Prof. Afisi had his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 1998.
He had his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Lagos State Model College, Obadore, Lagos State, from 1998 to 1999, then had his Master of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2002. He later proceeded to the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, where he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Philosophy in 2014.
He is the first indigenous professor of philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at Lagos State University.
