Late Oyo APC Chairman, Omodewu, laid to rest (Photos)

Party stalwarts paid their final respects on Friday, as the remains of the late chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Barr Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu, was buried in Otu, in Itesiwaju local government area.

Omodewu, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and later Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, died on August 19, 2024, in the United States of America, after a protracted illness.

The National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, represented by the Deputy National Chairman (Southwest), Isaac Kekemeke), described Omodewu’s death as a huge loss to the party. He consoled members of his immediate family and the party as a whole and urged them to take solace in the inevitability of death.

Also present at the burial were the three Senators representing Oyo State, Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North), Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Sharafadeen Alli (Oyo South), and former Senate Leader and governorship candidate of the party in the state in 2023, Oloye Teslim Folarin.

In his remarks, Senator Alli described Omodewu as a dedicated and committed party man who worked tirelessly to rebuild APC in the state. He stressed that the deceased, an astute administrator, will be missed greatly for his immense contributions to the party.

Speaking, Senator Buhari said Omodewu’s death is a great loss to the party, adding that the late chairman left a lasting legacy.

Buhari said, “He tried his best for our party; he won three senatorial seats and nine House of Representatives seats for us despite having a sitting governor who belongs to the opposition party”.

Other dignitaries at the funeral include the former Chairman of Nigeria Communication Commission, Adeolu Akande, former Oyo Deputy Governors, Rauf Olaniyan and Moses Adeyemo; Hon. Aderemi Oseni, Secretary of APC in the state, Tajudeen Olanite; the former state chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Abass Aleshinloye; and the spokesperson of the party, Olawale Sadare, among others.
