Lawal sworn-in as new Oyo deputy governor

Barrister Adebayo Adeleke Lawal has been sworn in as the new deputy governor of Oyo State, hours after the former deputy governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan was impeached by the state House of Assembly

The new deputy governor who was until his appointment the Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, had earlier been confirmed by the state assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony which took place at the executive council chambers of the Governor’s Office, was administered by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Muntar Abimbola.

In his speech, Governor Seyi Makinde admonished the new deputy governor to put the interest of the people of the state first in his new assignment

He disclosed that the new deputy governor would continue to oversee his former duty post the Housing Corporation of Oyo state, as well as the Ministry of Justice and the State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA).

In attendance at the event were Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin,  the state chairman of the Peoples  Democratic  Party (PDP) Chief Dayo Ogungbenro, members of the state executive council, principal lawmakers  of the state legislature among others.
