Lebara targets stronger digital connectivity architecture in Nigeria

Lebara Nigeria said its entry into the country is not merely about joining a competitive telecoms market but about strengthening Nigeria’s digital connectivity architecture and expanding international connectivity options for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

Chief Executive Officer of Lebara Nigeria, Mrs Teniola Stuffman, said the company’s global footprint uniquely positions it to enhance connectivity across borders, linking Nigerians not just within the country but across markets where they live, work and exert influence.

Lebara Nigeria, a subsidiary of the London-head quartered , recently reinforced this positioning at its soft launch and logo unveiling ceremony held on Wednesday in Ikoyi, Lagos. The event brought together regulators, diplomats, captains of industry and strategic partners ahead of its commercial rollout.

The company said it is entering the Nigerian market with the necessary infrastructure, regulatory compliance and operational capacity to deliver innovative, digitally driven services nationwide, with a strong focus on affordability and customer-centric offerings.

Chief Operating Officer, Mrs Mary Akin-Adesokan, described Nigeria’s inclusion in the global Lebara network as a significant strategic milestone.

“Lebara Group has been a trusted provider of affordable, reliable, and quality mobile services across three continents and nine countries. We are excited that Nigeria is now a part of the Lebara family,” she said.

“Our commitment is to delivering world class customer-first solution, unique bundle plans tailored to serve your interest, budget or lifestyle. We’re ready, are you?”

She added: “The various developments in Lebara Nigeria reflect the company’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality services to Nigerian subscribers.”

The company noted that the milestone aligns with its broader vision of enhancing user experience and deepening digital access in Nigeria’s telecommunications space, leveraging its global brand network effect and expertise in international connectivity.

Daniel Upson, Group Partnerships Director for Lebara Group, emphasised the depth of support from the parent company.

“The company has the backing of the international decades of Group experience, competence and reputation and support for the Nigerian branch and it will enhance quality of life for Nigerians,” he said.

At the launch event, Jonny Baxter, British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, described Lebara’s entry as symbolic of expanding digital collaboration between the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

“This launch is more than just the arrival of a new telecoms brand… it reflects the deepening partnership between the United Kingdom and Nigeria in the digital economy,” he said.

Also speaking, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Advisory Board Chairman of Lebara Nigeria, expressed optimism about the company’s prospects.

“Nigerians should watch out for Lebara Nigeria,” he said.

“Lebara has a long heritage in UK and Europe and will replicate same in Nigeria to the benefits of people.

“I never work with losers but champions and Lebara Nigeria isn’t an exception.”

With commercial operations on the horizon and strategic partnerships already established, Lebara Nigeria is positioning itself as a connectivity-driven brand focused on affordability, global interconnection and customer experience — core pillars it says will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s evolving digital infrastructure.
