Let democracy thrive in Alimosho Federal Constituency – by Rotimi Ogunwuyi

The national leader of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, said as the APC begins the process of selecting candidates for the 2027 general election in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act (2026) and our party’s constitution, leaders at various levels have initiated conversations to produce consensus candidates. It is a commendable option that would help in reducing rancour and bad blood among party members.
He stressed that where consensus could not be achieved, aspirants and delegates must conduct themselves responsibly and accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith, while he also warned against “do-or-die politics”.
Asiwaju Tinubu further called on aspirants and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct the party’s primary elections peacefully and uphold internal democracy.
The House of Representatives primary election among four aspirants in Alimosho Federal Constituency that was held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, was conducted in a manner that party members massively and freely performed their civic rights without forceful influence or undemocratic interference.
The primary election results across the eleven (11) wards, with video and pictorial evidence as witnessed by representatives of the *Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)* and announced by the Returning Officer, Barr. Sunny Adeeko:
1. Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba – 37,021
2. Hon. Olabisi Adebajo – 2,793
3. Hon. Israel Fatuade – 445
4. Hon. Bode Olabisi – 299
Inspite the massive turnout of party faithfuls and landslide victory of the incumbent, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, there are assertions and insinuations that elements within the party are secretly plotting to overturn the will of the majority of APC members in the constituency and working to forcefully impose Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, who was overwhelmingly defeated in the just-concluded primary election, on the people.
We know that Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi and Hon. James Faleke who the defeated aspirant, Olabisi Adebajo (ABISCO) and cohorts are claiming to help them secure the party ticket, are leaders who understand that APC was founded on the principles of progressive politics, consensus democracy, sacrifice and collective commitment, and these ideals have enabled the party to survive successive electoral contests and remain cohesive.
The will of the majority in an indirect primary as stipulated by the guidelines and constitution of the All Progressives Congress should not be sacrificed on the selfish and self-centred altar of gender balancing.
The massive electoral victory in the primary election is the voice of 37, 021 party members of the 40, 558 that participated in the primary election. It is the voice of the APC Leaders, Royal Fathers and other stakeholders of Alimosho Federal Constituency. We remain resolute and firm in defending this cause that represents the interest of the majority.
We watch closely and urge anyone that wants to meet God in his place in the day of recompense to give way for peace in Alimosho Federal Constituency by respecting the will of the majority of the people and doing everything humanly possible to ensure democracy thrives in Alimosho Federal Constituency.
Alimosho APC has spoken!
