LG Polls: Lagos APC releases guidelines, pegs Chairmanship nomination fee N5m, Councillorship N1m

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has released its guidelines ahead of the 2025 local government elections fixed for July 12.
Lagos APC in its released guidelines pegged Chairmanship nomination fee for N5 million while Councillorship aspirants were to pay N1 million.
According to the party’s guidelines, an additional administrative charge of N500,000 applies to all categories of candidates.


In a move aimed at promoting inclusiveness and encouraging wider participation, especially among underrepresented groups, the party stated that youths and women will pay only 50% of the stipulated nomination fees. This means eligible female and youth aspirants for chairmanship will pay N2.5 million, and N500,000 for councillorship, excluding the standard administrative fee.
The party said “All intending candidates are required to present stamped payment receipts before collecting their nomination forms”.
It would be recalled that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) had released notice of election for local government poll in the state.
According to a statement by the Head of Public Affairs of LASIEC, Tope Stephen, the election will take place in all the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas on July 12.
Campaigns and rallies by political parties will commence on April 18 and end on July 9, 2025.
The elections are to be conducted in twenty (20) Local government areas, thirty-seven (37) Local Council Development Areas and three hundred and seventy-six (376) wards of Lagos State.
