LP governorship candidate Odunaike kicks off campaign, vows to rebuild Lagos

The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Rotimi Odunaike, has kicked off his campaign, promising to rebuild the state if elected in the 6 February governorship election.
At the event held on Friday in Ikeja, Odunaike pledged to build “A New Lagos For All,” lamenting that, since the return of democracy in 1999, Lagos has largely worked for the benefit of a privileged few who have held the state captive.
He decried the decay of infrastructure and the lack of adequate social amenities across the state, promising to begin addressing these challenges from the day of his swearing-in.
“I will fix Lagos. Our slogan is ‘A New Lagos For All’. This is not just a mere slogan, but a determination to put the people at the centre of my administration. My deputy, Prince Lateef Adenkule Adele, and I will fix Lagos and make it work for all,” he said.
The event also witnessed the public presentation of his 162-page campaign manifesto, titled Our Covenant With the People of Lagos, which outlines a step-by-step approach to tackling the myriad challenges confronting the state.
The campaign flag-off was attended by the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
