Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed veteran journalist Amos Dunia as special adviser on Public Affairs for his 2027 presidential campaign.

The appointment was announced on Friday, October 2, 2026, in a statement issued in Abuja by Richard Ihediwa, director of strategic communications for the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Dunia, a former chieftain of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, brings decades of experience in print and broadcast journalism, having worked with media organisations including the Nigerian Television Authority and The Sun.

According to the statement, Dunia will deploy his journalism, public communication and publishing experience, as well as his professional networks, to strengthen the campaign’s communications team.

The campaign organisation said the appointment took immediate effect as it intensified efforts to promote its “Reset Nigeria” message ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

As special adviser on public affairs and a key spokesperson, Dunia will work with other media professionals to communicate the campaign’s agenda and engage Nigerians ahead of the election.

Ihediwa said Makinde urged members of the campaign organisation, party leaders and supporters of the Allied Peoples Movement, as well as Nigerians across the country, to remain committed to the campaign’s objectives.

The campaign organisation said the collective goal was to use the 2027 presidential election to return the country to a path of stability, national cohesion and economic prosperity.
