Makinde approves Prince Adebayo Adegbola as new Eleruwa of Eruwa

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Prince Adebayo Adegbola as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
According to the statement, the stool of Eleruwa had remained vacant following recent legal proceedings, particularly the dismissal of Suit No. HER/10/23 by the High Court of Oyo State on October 22, 2024.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, explained that the Laribikusi Ruling Quarters did not submit candidates within the stipulated timeframe, as required by Section 15(1) of the Chiefs Law Cap 28 of Oyo State. Consequently, Governor Makinde exercised his discretion to allow the Akalako Ruling House to nominate candidates.
Following a thorough selection process, the Kingmakers of Eruwa unanimously chose Prince Adebayo Adegbola from the Akalako Ruling House as the new Eleruwa.
The last Eleruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, was installed in 1998 but was deposed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on November 29, 2019. With the appointment of Prince Adegbola, the Makinde administration has now coronated 11 kings and 40 Baales, marking a record in Yoruba traditional history.
Hon. Ojo called on all sons and daughters of Eruwa to welcome the new Eleruwa and celebrate his ascension to the throne for the growth and prosperity of the town after a 22-year wait.
