Makinde approves rehabilitation of Okaka–Igbojaye Road
By Adejayan Gbenga –
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the reconstruction of the 23-kilometre Okaka–Igbojaye Road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure and tourism. The road links to the Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) Film Village in Komu, a major cultural investment in the state.
The announcement was made during the Hijrah 1447 Luncheon at the Presidential Lodge, Ibadan. Makinde recalled his April 2025 promise during the Film Village commissioning to upgrade infrastructure supporting cultural and economic activities in rural areas. He said the reconstruction would unlock economic opportunities for the region.
The governor noted that the road approval is one of several projects aimed at “finishing strong” as his administration enters its final 22 months. He urged citizens to offer prayers and constructive criticism to help the government remain focused.
Reiterating his Omituntun 2.0 agenda, Makinde stated that no new major projects would be initiated after September 2025 to ensure completion of all ongoing works before the end of his tenure. “We do not want to leave behind any abandoned projects,” he stressed.
At the event, the governor also fulfilled promises made during the last Ramadan Lecture by presenting buses to the Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland and the Muslim community in Oyo State. He invited the public to remind him of any outstanding commitments.
Deputy Governor Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal praised Makinde’s support for the Muslim community and his role in promoting religious inclusiveness. He commended the administration’s efforts in fostering unity and peaceful coexistence across the state.
Guest lecturer, Sheik Dikrulahi Yaya, lauded Makinde’s leadership style and infrastructure investments. He urged Muslims to uphold the lessons of Hijrah and support the state’s development through prayers, discipline, and service.
Dignitaries at the event included top government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and politicians. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, commended the governor for transforming the state’s socio-economic landscape and called for peace and unity among residents.
