Makinde vows better funding, welfare for LAUTECH Teaching Hospital staff

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has pledged to address the grievances of health workers at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, through a series of welfare and infrastructural interventions.
The governor made the commitment during a visit to the hospital on Tuesday, where he met with staff and management. He assured that a Governing Council would be constituted by the end of the week to strengthen administration and oversight.
Makinde also announced an upward review of the hospital’s monthly subvention, including the provision of ₦80,000 stipends for 65 non-staff security personnel, who are to be integrated into the hospital system as ad hoc staff. He further promised to complete the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annexe in Oyo Town before the end of his administration.
On outstanding entitlements, the governor said that promotion arrears covering 2018–2024 would be paid in three instalments between October and December 2025, while minimum wage arrears for January–August 2025 would also be cleared within the same period.
Makinde added that other issues raised by the workers would be addressed by the incoming Governing Council.
While in Ogbomoso, the governor paid homage to the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, and assured that feeder road projects in Ogbomoso would commence within six weeks.
He also disclosed plans to fix selected roads in the Oyo Zone before the end of his tenure.
