A man has reportedly gone into hiding after allegedly killing his wife, Mrs Christianah Kutelu, in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-East LGA of Ondo State.

The deceased, said to be a staff member of a special needs school in the community, reportedly died on Wednesday in circumstances suspected to be connected to domestic violence.

Sources in the area said the suspect allegedly conveyed the victim’s body to a morgue shortly after the incident before fleeing to an unknown location.

Family members were said to have reported the matter to the police, expressing suspicion over the husband’s possible involvement in the woman’s death.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had launched an investigation into the incident, adding that, “The Ondo State Police Command has commenced investigation into a suspected murder case reported at the Ikare Division involving the death of Mrs Christianah Kutelu, aged 51.”

He noted further that, “The case was reported by a family member who alleged that the deceased’s husband might have been involved in acts of domestic violence leading to her death.”

“The husband is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death,” the police spokesperson also revealed.

Abayomi went on to assure residents that the police would carry out a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
