Tragedy struck in Osun on Saturday morning when a middle-aged man jumped into a river at the Gbodofon bridge along the Osogbo/Gbongan road .
The incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m., reportedly left onlookers in shock.
An eyewitness identified as Afeez Oyejide recounted the events, stating that the man was seen wandering around the bridge before moving to the pedestrian way and leaping into the river.
“I heard the man saying ‘Otisumi’ (I am tired) before he dived into the Osun River here at Gbodofon,” Oyejide said.
He added that despite immediate attempts to stop him, the man could not be restrained.
Sources also disclosed that rescue efforts by the Osun State Fire Service were hindered by the water level and current, hampering the chances of the search party to locate him.
