Man remanded for allegedly threatening to kill father with machete in Ondo

An Iwaro-Oka Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Atiaro Emmanuel, for allegedly threatening to kill his father, Atiaro Matthew, with a machete.

The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate B.A. Ikusika on a four-count charge filed by the police.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 12, 2024, around 6:00 a.m. at Iwornin Quarters in Oka Akoko, within the court’s jurisdiction.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, told the court that the accused threatened his father’s life with a machete, an act which violates Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

He requested an adjournment to allow time for a thorough review of the case file.

The defendant, who had no legal representation in court, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Ikusika ordered his remand and adjourned the case to August 6, 2025, for further hearing.
