Man stabbed to death over ₦14,000 debt in Ondo

A 25-year-old man, Fisayo Ajetumobi, has been stabbed to death at a construction site in Ondo Town over a ₦14,000 debt, according to the police.
The Ondo State Police Command said the incident occurred on September 13, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m. The suspect, Wale Ibrahim, a resident of No. 50 Oreborede Street, Ondo, had reportedly demanded the money from Gabriel Oyeniran, who had previously sold him wood.
An argument allegedly broke out between Ibrahim and Oyeniran, during which the suspect reportedly stabbed Ajetumobi in the chest. The victim died on the spot.
In a statement issued by DSP Olusola Ayanlade, the police said Ibrahim was immediately arrested, thoroughly investigated, and subsequently charged to court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, condemned the incident, describing it as a senseless act of violence.
He assured residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, and urged citizens to resolve disputes through lawful means.
The police also called on members of the public to provide credible and timely information to support proactive crime prevention and improve security across the state.
