UNICEF pledges support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, hails leadership direction

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has pledged its continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with a focus on health, nutrition, education, and human capital development.

UNICEF Nigeria’s Country Representative, Ms. Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, made this commitment during a courtesy visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday. She commended the administration’s initiatives — including the Nutrition 774 Initiative, the Nutrition Intervention Fund, and efforts to improve girl-child education — describing the government’s vision as “clear and realisable.”

Welcoming the delegation, Vice President Shettima stated that President Tinubu had “redefined the concept of modern leadership in Nigeria” through his commitment to transformative policies. He noted that UNICEF remains a strategic partner in implementing federal government programmes aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of courage and conviction, and he is doing everything possible to redefine the concept of modern leadership in Nigeria,” Shettima said. “We are on the cusp of regenerating our economy and rebuilding this nation. The gains of our reforms are manifesting by the day. The inflationary trend is on the decline, and by the end of the year, the economy will further stabilize for all to see.”

The Vice President also highlighted ongoing collaborations with development partners, stressing the government’s commitment to investing in youth, education, and nutrition as key drivers of national growth.

In her remarks, Ms. Abdelatef praised Shettima’s role in supporting humanitarian causes, describing him as a “global citizen” whose leadership has been instrumental in advancing both humanitarian and development efforts. She reiterated UNICEF’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with the Nigerian government.
