Man arrested in Ondo for alleged assault of minor, termination of pregnancies

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old man, Babawale Kolawole, over allegations of incest and repeated sexual abuse of a 16-year-old relative.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the Command stated that the suspect, a resident of No. 12 Okeodunwo Street, Igbado, has been remanded in custody pending trial.
The victim reported the abuse to the police on September 13, 2025.
She alleged that Kolawole subjected her to ongoing abuse and facilitated the termination of her pregnancies on two occasions.
She further claimed that he attempted to conceal evidence following each incident.
Following the report, the Gender-Based Offences Unit of the Command promptly arrested the suspect, processed the case for prosecution, and arraigned him before a competent court.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to safeguarding the rights of women and children, emphasizing that all offenders will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of abuse without delay.
