Man Utd set sights on Flying Eagles’ goalkeeper Harcourt

Manchester United have reportedly deployed top scouts to Chile to monitor Flying Eagles’ highly rated goalkeeper, Ebenezer Harcourt, at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The 19-year-old has been one of Nigeria’s most exciting prospects in recent years, with his performances already attracting the attention of several European clubs.

Harcourt rose to prominence earlier this year when he helped Nigeria secure a bronze medal at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, standing out with crucial saves, including two penalty stops, and three clean sheets.

His displays earned him a swift call-up to the senior national team, where he featured in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Congo in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), becoming the youngest player to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.

According to reports from United In Focus, the Red Devils are closely tracking Harcourt, with scouts attending Nigeria’s matches to assess his consistency, composure, and ability to adapt to European football.

He has been marked as a major priority for United alongside Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora, another standout prospect at the tournament. Other European clubs are also monitoring him, setting the stage for a potential transfer battle.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group F with Colombia, Norway, and Saudi Arabia. The Flying Eagles open their campaign against Norway on Monday, September 29, at Estadio Fiscal in Talca, with Harcourt expected to start in goal.

At just 19, Harcourt has already achieved what many dream of — playing for the Super Eagles and attracting global interest. The U-20 World Cup now provides the perfect platform to cement his reputation as one of Africa’s most promising goalkeepers.
