The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, has directed that all markets within Ibadan city and its outskirts be closed on Friday, September 26, 2025—the day of the coronation—in honour of the new monarch.
In a statement personally signed and released on behalf of the market leaders’ council, zonal executives, and traders across the state, Asiwaju Abass prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign that would bring growth to Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
He noted that traders across the eleven local government areas of Ibadanland had been urged to attend the historic event at Mapo Hall as a mark of respect.
“As traders, we must show respect to our revered monarch by honouring the coronation. Markets will remain closed to allow full participation,” Abass stated.
He further extended birthday wishes to Oba Ladoja, wishing him a long life and many happy returns.
