Minister applauds Nigeria’s impactful participation at CSW70

….. says “Nigeria spoke with one voice”
The minister of women affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has commended the Nigeria delegation to the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) for what she described as a disciplined and highly impactful representation of the country at the global forum.
In a statement on Saturday following the conclusion of the CSW70 conference held in New York from March 9 to March 19, the Minister praised the professionalism and unity displayed by the delegation, stressing that Nigeria stood out as a strong voice in advancing gender equality.
“When a nation moves as one, its voice carries farther, its impact endures longer, and its purpose becomes unmistakable,” she said while appreciating the Nigerian team.
She added that the delegation’s conduct positioned Nigeria as more than just a participant at the conference.
“Your discipline, professionalism, and shared sense of mission positioned Nigeria not merely as a participant, but as a decisive and credible voice in advancing global commitments on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls,” she stated.
The Minister highlighted Nigeria’s presentation of its Country Statement, its contributions to the African Group’s Voluntary Country Statement alongside Egypt and Namibia, and engagements with international partners including the African Union, ECOWAS and United Nations agencies.
She particularly noted the strategic importance of the strong presence of Nigerian delegates across different sessions.
“By consistently showing up, standing together, and reinforcing our positions in every session, you projected unity, strength, and national coherence,” she said.
