Minister hails Governor Eno as CNG project launches in Akwa Ibom

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for creating an enabling environment for investments that boost economic growth and generate employment.

Ekpo made the remark during the groundbreaking ceremony of Guelph Gas Limited’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station in Ibesikpo, Akwa Ibom State. He noted the state’s strategic location and resource wealth position it as a key player in Nigeria’s gas revolution.

“As someone from this state, I have witnessed our people’s commitment to development and innovation. I commend Governor Umo Eno for supporting initiatives that uplift our economy and create jobs,” Ekpo said.

He noted that as Nigeria transitions to cleaner energy, CNG offers a viable alternative to traditional fuels, helping to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental sustainability.

The minister also praised Guelph Gas for its investment in the sector, describing it as a sign of growing confidence in Nigeria’s gas policies. He assured that the ministry would support the successful completion of the project and similar initiatives nationwide.

Guelph Gas Managing Director, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey, thanked President Bola Tinubu for policies such as Decade of Gas and Gas to Prosperity, which have attracted private sector investment into the gas industry.

Bassey revealed that the company has secured all necessary approvals, including the License to Establish and Environmental Impact Assessment, and expects to sign a Gas Sales Agreement before the end of the month.

He promised timely delivery of the three million standard cubic feet per day project and pledged to carry the host community along through meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives.
