The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has signed performance bonds with the heads of agencies and parastatals under his ministry, directing them to actively communicate the successes of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Idris made these remarks on Tuesday in Abuja while opening a one-day retreat for the ministry’s directors and heads of its agencies and parastatals. This was detailed in a statement by Suleiman Haruna, Deputy Director of Press.

“Since the advent of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, a structured agenda has been set to achieve the Renewed Hope Initiative, with all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) involved. A tracking system is in place to ensure compliance, managed by the Central Results Delivery and Coordinating Unit (CRDCU) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Each of you here, as heads or Delivery Officers, is responsible for delivering our results to this office. This retreat is organized to ensure we all understand this responsibility,” Idris stated.

The Minister further noted, “You may recall that the Permanent Secretary and I signed a performance bond with the President to ensure the ministry fulfills its mandate. I have been informed that the Permanent Secretary has involved directors in this process; during this retreat, I intend to have the heads of parastatals sign the performance bond as well.”

Idris emphasized the importance of the ministry’s public information organs and departments fully understanding the government’s efforts in delivering on its promises, including improved minimum wage, student loans, consumer credit, loans to businesses of all sizes, and various support grants, so they can effectively communicate these initiatives to the public.

“The government is also committed to ongoing infrastructure and social projects across the country. We must grasp these efforts to communicate them successfully,” he added.

The Minister also highlighted the ministry’s regulatory responsibilities and the partnerships it offers to other government organizations to support the communication of their respective mandates.

Idris urged participants to engage in open discussions about any challenges, ensuring that they not only meet their mandates but are also perceived as delivering them effectively.

He expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Usman, for her dedication and visibility in the role, while also acknowledging the commendable work of her team at the CRDCU.

Attendees at the retreat included the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe; Directors-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Comrade Abdulhameed Dembos; Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mohammed Bulama; Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace; Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council, Dr. Dili Ezughah; and other ministry directors.
