Demonstrating national unity and collaboration, Commissioners, Director Generals, and Senior Special Advisers of Tourism and Culture from Ekiti, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, and Osun states, along with other key stakeholders in the tourism industry, convened at La Campagne Tropicana, Lagos, for a crucial two-day sensitization event. The gathering was dedicated to refining the final details for the highly anticipated IPADA Initiative and Carnival 2024.
The event, spearheaded by Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, the visionary founder of La Campagne Tropicana, and supported by the Federal Ministry of Tourism, marks a concerted effort to celebrate and elevate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
Scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 12, 2024, the Carnival is expected to captivate both local and global audiences, showcasing the nation’s vibrant traditions and fostering a renewed sense of pride among Nigerian residents, the diaspora, and the international community.
The Honourable Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, and the Permanent Secretary of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Mrs. Ibiene Roberts, OON, were present at the event. In a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister by Mr. Sunday Bisong, Director of Domestic Tourism, the IPADA Initiative and Carnival were highlighted as key components of Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy.
The Minister emphasized that the event aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which aims to strengthen national unity and drive economic prosperity.
“The IPADA Carnival is a significant occasion for us to share our diverse cultural heritage with the world,” the Honourable Minister stated. “Through the collaboration of state governments and the Federal Ministry of Tourism, we are determined to create an experience that will attract millions of visitors, foster national unity, and position Nigeria as a leading cultural tourism destination globally.”
The Minister also highlighted the economic potential of the Carnival, noting that it would not only boost tourism revenues but also create lasting benefits for local communities. These include job creation, infrastructure development, and the promotion of cultural exchange.
Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, the driving force behind La Campagne Tropicana, played a crucial role in the event, reinforcing the importance of the partnership between the private sector and the government.
His dedication to the IPADA Initiative is seen as vital to elevating Nigeria’s cultural tourism profile on the international stage. Akinboboye’s contributions to the Carnival are expected to ensure that it delivers world-class experiences that resonate with both local and international audiences.
As the IPADA Carnival 2024 draws near, the collaboration between federal and state governments, supported by the private sector, is set to make a lasting impact on Nigeria’s tourism landscape.
The Carnival is anticipated to attract a diverse audience, including the Nigerian populace, diaspora, and global visitors, thereby fostering a renewed sense of pride in Nigeria’s cultural identity and contributing significantly to the country’s economic development.
