Mobil confirms Tinubu as intelligent, honest, highly motivated employee

Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc has praised the  presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his time with the organisation.

In a letter dated December 28, 1998 which was seen by WesternPost, Mobil confirmed that Tinubu worked for the company between December 1, 1983 and May 17, 1992.

The letter signed by Manager, Employee Relations, S. A. Williams said Tinubu was “an intelligent, honest and highly motivated employee.”

The letter confirmed that Tinubu left the company in 1992 after applying for a leave of absence.

“This is to confirm that Mr. Tinubu was an employee of our Company between
December 1, 1983 and May 17, 1992. He left on May 18, 1992 on Public Service.
Leave of Absence and did not return to our Company at the end of the leave.

Tinubu left Mobil to be involved in active politics, getting elected to represent Lagos West in the Senate in 1992 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.

He subsequently got elected as Lagos State governor in 1999, completing his two terms in office in 2007.

There have been recent controversies over the educational qualifications of the APC presidential flagbearer.

While many have questioned his claim to have attended Chicago State University, where he bagged Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1979, the institution had on many occasions after enquiries by Nigerians confirmed that the former Lagos State governor was indeed their student.

In a recent letter dated June 27, 2022 and signed by the institution’s registrar, Caleb Westberg, the Chicago State University said Tinubu attended the school between 1977 and 1979.

“He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with Honors on June 22, 1979. His major was accounting,” part of the letter read.

Tinubu also worked for the American companies Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, Haskins, & Sells, and GTE Services Corporation before retuning to Nigeria to work with Mobil.
