Money can’t buy health, says Teni

Nigerian singer and songwriter Teni Apata has stated that money cannot buy good health.
In a recently shared Instagram video detailing her struggles with illness, the Billionaire singer emphasized that only God can grant good health.
Teni revealed that she battled malaria for two weeks, leaving her weak and without an appetite. Despite her condition, she traveled to Ondo for a performance, explaining that she couldn’t refund the money she had been paid.
“Ah, e no go better for all the mosquitoes wey dey for Ikate. I dey tell you. Oba, you need to find something to do about the mosquitoes in Ikate because malaria had me down,” she lamented.
Reflecting on her ordeal, she humorously referenced the lyrics of her song Uyo Meyo, saying, “‘Ohun toju mi ti ri ah’ [meaning ‘What my eyes have seen’], my eyes have really seen something—malaria.”
Teni also joked about her appearance and her father’s burial site. “They should turn off the AC in my father’s burial ground because it’s like he wanted to take a nap. I said, ‘Wake up, your daughter is dying!’ I was down, weak for two weeks, and couldn’t eat.”
She further quipped, “If you people see my neck now, I look like tolotolo [turkey]. And I went to perform in Ondo while sick—because who will feed me? Look at me, I was dying, oh! Just dancing and singing For Your Case because I cannot return money. Any money that enters my account, any money that enters the sugar mummy account, does not come back outside. And they say money is the root of all evil—e no go better for evil!”
Despite her illness, Teni’s resilience and humor remained evident throughout the video, showcasing her ability to find laughter even in tough situations.
