Mother’s Day: Oluremi Tinubu tasks mothers on raising future leaders

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has paid tribute to mothers across the country, describing them as the “heroes of the nation” in her 2026 Mother’s Day message.

In a statement released to commemorate the annual celebration on Sunday, the First Lady acknowledged the sacrifices, love and dedication of Nigerian mothers, noting that their contributions to family and national development remain invaluable.

“To all mothers who nurture, love and shape our families, you are the heroes of our nation,” she stated.

She emphasised that while major sacrifices by mothers are often recognised, the quiet, everyday acts of care and devotion truly define motherhood.

“Beyond the big sacrifices, it is the small, quiet moments that truly define a mother’s love. On this special day, we carry those moments in our hearts and say thank you for the warmth and love you selflessly give,” she said.

The First Lady also encouraged mothers to remain steadfast in their role as moral guides and teachers to the younger generation, stressing the importance of passing down values that will strengthen the future of the country.

“I implore our mothers to continue to teach and guide the children, passing down wisdom and strength that would benefit future generations,” she added.

She further prayed for the wellbeing and longevity of mothers, expressing hope that they would witness the success of their children and future generations.
