Motorboy escapes as gunmen abduct tipper driver in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –
A motorboy narrowly escaped on Friday morning after gunmen abducted his driver, Tobi Abdulmalik Oluwatuyi, along the Akure–Owo Expressway in Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6 a.m. at Ilu Abo when the tipper developed a mechanical fault. While the driver was attempting to fix the truck, the assailants emerged from the nearby bush and seized him.
According to eyewitnesses, the motorboy managed to flee the scene and quickly raised an alarm to alert residents and passersby. His escape helped draw the attention of security operatives to the incident.
The owner of the vehicle, Monday Ayesoro, confirmed the abduction and said the case had been reported to security agencies for immediate intervention.
Reacting to the development, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said operatives had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.
“We are already combing the forest and have blocked the routes leading to Ise in Ekiti State to prevent the kidnappers from escaping. We are on top of the situation and determined to secure the victim’s release,” Adeleye said.
He added that the Amotekun Corps was working with other security agencies to ensure the victim’s safe rescue and to make the Akure–Owo highway safe for motorists.
