Following the release of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle has reiterated that his primary focus remains on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

With two crucial matches scheduled for March, Chelle stressed the significance of securing positive results to keep Nigeria’s World Cup hopes alive.

“As I’ve said before, my focus is on my players and the matches in March,” Chelle stated.

“We need to concentrate on the World Cup qualifiers first, and after that, we can think about the AFCON in October. For now, our priority is to win the two games in March.”

The Super Eagles are set to face Rwanda’s Amavubi and Zimbabwe’s Warriors in March, and Chelle is determined to lead his team to victory.

Chelle’s decision to prioritize the World Cup qualifiers over the AFCON draw underscores the importance of securing a spot in the global tournament.

With Nigeria’s World Cup dreams hanging in the balance, Chelle’s focus on the March qualifiers highlights his commitment to leading the Super Eagles to the 2026 World Cup.
