My priority is my current job, Adelabu says amid Oyo contest rumors

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday said his immediate focus remains his ministerial duties, amid speculation about a possible run for the Oyo State governorship poll.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Adelabu disclosed that he is excelling at his job, as it will always be his priority whilst he still oversees the position.
He further added that he hopes to resolve the power supply challenge between now and March 31, adding that his utmost interest is in the service of Nigeria’s interest.
When asked if he would resign to contest the 2027 Oyo gubernatorial election, Adelabu tactically deflected the question by responding with, “Whether I will be here or I will be leaving is a matter of time. I will get back to you.”
His remark comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed all political appointees intending to run in the 2027 elections to resign by March 31, 2026.
Reports suggest that the President is yet to endorse Adelabu, with indications that Senator Sharafadeen Alli could be the preferred candidate for Oyo State within the ruling party.
