NATA protests illegal demolition of workshops, vechicle towing by Lagos Taskforce

….ask Sanwo-Olu to caution Jeleloye

The Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), FESTAC Unit, has called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to caution the state Taskforce Chairman, CSP Shola Jejeloye, over the illegal demolition of their workshops and the removal of some vehicles.

The group stated this on Monday, during a peaceful protest to the Lagos State House Assembly to register their grievances over the demolition exercise.

Westernpost learnt that there was a consent judgment by Justice Y.A Adesanya to stop the demolition and impounding of vehicles in the FESTAC area.

Spokesperson for NATA, Comrade Femi Olanipekun told newsmen that about 2000 members were affected by the demolition carried out by the taskforce, while about 80 cars were taken away, including working tools.

Olanipekun appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu to relocate them unconditionally pending the final court judgment on the case.

In an open letter to Governor Sanwo-Olu, NATA alleged that operatives of the taskforce came to the Buffer Zone on 1st of April with thugs to threaten its members to vacate the land within 24hours.

They alleged that the taskforce operatives harassed and fired teargas directly at them, adding that some were injured in the process.

They said that about 15 vehicles were towed from the workshop of one Bashiru Yusuf and others to taskforce office.

NATA, however, appealed on Governor Sanwo-Olu to order the task force chairman to return all the vechicles towed from their workshops and ensure that all their working tools are returned unconditionally.
