Nathaniel Bassey cautions against ‘unholy obsession’ among followers

Gospel artist and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has cautioned his followers to avoid turning their passion into an “unholy obsession.”
In a statement shared on his X handle on Monday, Bassey emphasized that not recognizing him or other young ministers should not make anyone feel less Christian.
Bassey clarified that choosing not to participate in his midnight “Hallelujah Challenge” does not diminish one’s faith. He stated, “Not knowing Nathaniel Bassey or any of the young vibrant servants of God being used does not make you any less a Christian. In fact, there are so many Christians who have never heard of me nor my music. It doesn’t make them any less Christians.”
He further shared that people should respect others’ personal choices, saying, “Not joining the Hallelujah challenge does not make you less a Christian. People are free to connect with what’s best for them.”
Bassey also compared the diversity in spiritual practices to the growth of apples in different environments, urging followers not to look down on others for their different choices. He cited Bible verses to reinforce his message about respect and understanding among Christians, including Romans 14:3 and 1 Corinthians 7:24.
Concluding his message, Bassey invited his followers to join him for the “Hallelujah Challenge,” which resumed after a brief break. He encouraged unity in worship, saying, “Let’s gather, before our Father, at the altar, to offer hallelujah together! No wahala! Only hallelujah.”
