NCAA petitions AGF, IGP over Kwam1’s disruption of ValueJet flight

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate an incident involving Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, and domestic airline, ValueJet.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, during a scheduled ValueJet flight VK201 and reportedly disrupted standard operating procedures, raising safety concerns over passenger behavior and airline protocol.
In a statement signed by NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the agency said preliminary findings suggest the musician was allegedly involved in conduct that contravened provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023.
The NCAA has called for a full criminal investigation and appropriate legal action in line with aviation safety laws and other applicable statutes, emphasizing that no individual is above compliance with aviation standards.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has advised the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) to consider placing K1 De Ultimate on a No-Fly List for commercial flights.
This advisory, the NCAA explained, aligns with global aviation practices which prioritize the safety of crew, passengers, and operations above personal status or public image.
The Authority further stressed its commitment to upholding integrity within Nigeria’s aviation industry, stating that all passengers must adhere to expected conduct onboard.
Further updates on the incident and subsequent investigation will be provided by the NCAA as developments unfold.
