Ekiti 2026: Coalition of 130 Pan-Yoruba groups adopt Oyebanji

In a massive show of solidarity and support, 130 Pan Yoruba groups on Thursday rated the performance of the Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, as outstanding and adopted the governor for a second term in office.
The Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), as the largest coalition of civil society, community-based and Pan-Yoruba groups in the old Western Region, including Kogi, Kwara and some parts of Delta and Edo States, expressed their commitment to Oyebanji’s reelection at a meeting in Lagos.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the General Secretary Popoola Ajayi and leaders of the participating groups, the AYDM commended the Governor for the giant strides achieved in “agriculture, education, wealth creation, road construction, job creation, youth empowerment, and infrastructure.
The AYDM noted the significant impact the governor has made in the lives of the majority of the people of Ekiti State; hence, the need to rally round him for a second term.
Guest speaker at the event, Mr Adewale Adeoye, said Governor Oyebanji’s remarkable achievements have made Yorubaland proud, describing the governor as the epitome of Omoluabi.
“He stands tall among his peers. His support for regional integration is remarkable. He has built milestones in education, road construction, public health, agriculture and transparency in governance,” he said.
The groups commended Oyebanji for deepening transparency in governance, evident in Ekiti’s top rating on the Nigerian Fiscal Transparency Index, adding that the state represents a striking example for other states to follow.
The groups resolved to mobilise their affiliate members for a house-to-house, door-to-door campaign to ensure victory for Governor Oyebanji immediately the ban on campaigning for the 2026 governorship election is lifted.
