NDPC visits Akume to enhance data protection, privacy practices

The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, led a delegation from the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
The visit was aimed at fostering collaboration between the NDPC and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to enhance data protection and privacy practices within the OSGF.

Olatunji gave a brief insight into the establishment of the NDPC, highlighting the Commission’s achievements since the Nigeria Data Protection Act was signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He informed the SGF about the recent unveiling of the National Certification for Data Protection Officers (DPOs), noting that this certification would be globally recognised. He also proposed a data protection capacity-building program for the staff of the OSGF to enhance their understanding of the data protection ecosystem, and its application to their daily activities.
